Happy birthday, Amy Jo

by Patty Mylroie, Chapter Leader, TCF, Medford, OR

I am sending you a Happy Birthday memo this year to let you know just how much you are loved and missed. Your Dad and I will be honoring your 39th birthday on Christmas Eve as we have now done for 10 years since you have been gone. I will put up your birthday tree as I have done for the past 38 years. Your birthday tree is different today. It is not the same big tree. I have replaced it with a smaller tree, but it is still your Birthday Tree. Instead of Happy Birthday decorations on it I will be placing 39 angels on your tree. Many of these angels where given to me by your friends and my friends following your departure.

Your Dad will continue to spend your birthday FASTING as he has done for the past 11 years to honor you. I admire that gesture. You know how your Dad loves his food, but he loved you more and this is his way of honoring your life.

We have been talking about what more we could do to further honor your life here on earth. We know that you loved working with mentally challenged adults. Remember how you would bring them in the van to our home? You were so accepting of them and they loved you because of that gift you gave to them. As an Angel today, maybe you will just see to it that this opportunity walks into our lives. We would welcome it and would honor it, as we know it came from you.

Until we meet again we send you our love, Mom and Dad.
